Your Magic Won’t Pass You By

What’s meant for you won’t pass you.

We feel pressure to be the best, be the first, get there before someone else does.  This was something I felt on and off for many years in the past.  Which was not fun.  It can make you lose the excitement for your passion.  Sometimes we can forget out magic.  But after many years pursuing the passions of my heart I firmly believe that

what’s yours won’t go to someone else. Magic

Magic Magic

You’re worried that someone will take your idea at work? They won’t present it like you do.   You think someone will steal your song lyric? They won’t word it like you do. That’s the beautiful thing about tapping into your creativity; it’s you!  It’s the SUPER POWER only you have.  That’s your power.  Your mind, your creativity, your ideas.

Dr Seuss said it best, “there’s no one alive who is youer than you!”

Magic Magic Magic

You can have hobbies and passions and ideas but it’s the gems that REALLY EXCITE you that matter. The ones that MOTIVATE you enough to pursue a new path; THOSE are the ones meant for you.  The ones you wake up thinking about at 2am.  AND even if someone else has the same idea, there’s ONLY ONE YOU! Anything you do has your fingerprints on it and that doesn’t change.

Magic MagicMagic

Apple has Steve Jobs fingerprints on it.

Henry Ford’s spirit is still alive and well in Ford.

Bill Gates is synonymous with Microsoft.

J.K. Rowling created an entire universe with her heartbeat as it’s life source.

These projects wouldn’t be the world-impacting-forces that they are if they had come from someone else.  They might still be great, but they wouldn’t be the ones we know without these people behind them.

Magic

Yes, there are collaborators for great ideas, but the person who drives the idea forward; is the one who’s fingerprints will continue on with the idea.

That’s the magic. and YOU HAVE THAT MAGIC.

What Makes You Happy

What makes you happy? What are you passionate about? Is it dancing, fishing, traveling, watching a good movie?  What brings you that bubbly feeling of joy?

happyhappy

So many people know what makes them happy but they don’t prioritize it!  It falls by the wayside because people end of focusing on what they think HAS to get done.  Sometimes this is true.  Especially if you’re responsible for someone else (parents I’m looking at you).  But it really doesn’t have to be this way.  A little finessing is all it takes to adjust your schedule to allow a few extra minutes a day that makeup an hour a week to dedicate to something that really makes you happy.

happy happy happy

When you’re comfortable with being uncomfortable this can seem really difficult.  Even if you want to make more time for your hobby or passion, you feel guilty doing it because you think you should be somewhere else.  The reality is though, that when you show up for yourself, you show up in a better way for everything else!

happy happy happy

We all know the people who have made a change in their lives and suddenly became iron-man triathletes, or the mom who started an Etsy business, or the Disney fanatic who turned her loves of Disney into an instagram account with tons of followers who also love Disney!

happy happy

This could be you! All you have to do is adjust things *slightly* to get a little more time for yourself.  By allowing your passions to come out I promise you won’t feel guilty, in fact, you’ll be setting an example for everyone else who’s letting the things they love in life pass them by.

What Makes America Great

Happy Independence Day America!

I love being American and I love the years I’ve spent here.  America has so many great qualities and even during trying times, I see the best in people showing up.  America is full of unique people with different skills and talents. Recently it seems that some of the things that truly make America great have been overlooked due to the focus being more on how we are different than how we are alike.  Here are four things that, in my opinion, make America great.
  1. Diversity

There are people from all over who have immigrated or have been born to people who immigrated.  Let’s face it, unless your ancestors from both sides of your heritage are Native American, we’ve all come to be here, thanks to someone else wanting a better life!  Because of this diversity America excels in many industries because there are people who have brought their talents and skills, that they learned somewhere else, here!
AmericaAmerica
  1. Free Speech

Part of being American means you have the right to voice your opinion.  However, that doesn’t mean you can speak derogatorily about someone!  Opinions should be backed by fact and stated respectfully, because everyone else has one too.  This is helpful because it teaches us that we can agree to disagree without becoming enemies!
America
  1. Inclusivity

For the most part Americans are ready to welcome new people who want to embrace what America is all about!  If you love pursuing happiness, building a dream, working towards a life you love, have ingenuity, like embracing people from all walks of life, exploring the vast beauty of America, and are openminded, then chances are good most Americans are happy to welcome you!  I’ve been all over America and just like anywhere else, everywhere you go you meet nice people and you meet rude people.  America is no different.  But I’ve found the nice people FAR outweigh the rude.
America America
  1. Free to be You and Me

My favorite thing about America is that we can be ourselves and not be threatened by someone who is different.  There are so many things we can learn from each other by being willing to see beyond color, race, religion, class, and gender!  I’M NOT SAYING EVERYONE IS WILLING TO DO THIS.  But there are so many Americans who are.
America
The most important thing that MAKES AMERICA GREAT is that when you move here, you get to integrate. You get to become American AND add your culture to the melting pot.  Being American is it’s own identity, but it’s made up of cultures and individuals from all over the world! That’s what makes America great.  That we have identities as Americans that bond us, and because of that we share a global culture because our collective heritage is made up of so much more than just one place.

Kintsugi

I heard about Kintsugi several years ago.  I love Kintsugi…and let me tell you why.

I’ve heard people refer to themselves as broken.  Which always makes me sad because people are not broken.  They may need help, they may have shortcomings, but that’s just imperfect perfection.  It does NOT mean you’re broken…it means you’re HUMAN!

kintsugikintsugi

I think people call a heart broken when it aches, but it’s actually more like the pain you feel when you really hurt yourself and the pain is so intense it doesn’t register right away. It’s a slow rising brutal ache. But it’s not a break.

kintsugikintsugi

Your spirit can’t be broken. It can be changed. You might feel broken. But it’s really kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of golden repair. If a bowl breaks it is repaired with a gold filing to bind the pieces back together. This is you. When something “breaks” you your spirit has the magic of kintsugi inside and it can fill you with gold too. Youll be even more than you were before, you have new golden magic sewn into your story.

kintsugikintsugi

So you can carry your “broken pieces” around with you cradling them in your arms forevermore or you can let your self love and your spirit do what it does naturally; take your experiences and spin them into gold to add to your being.

kintsugikintsugi

The pain is just the opening where the golden light gets in.

Pick Me Up Playlist

Obviously I love music, but I’m fairly particular about what kind of words I want to hear. Which is why I sometimes want a pick me up.

I think the music we listen to really matters, and that we should only be putting good thoughts in our minds!  These are some of my favorite songs to listen to when I might need a reminder to keep a positive attitude. What better way to show you what I’m talking about than the share the songs with you!  Every one can use a pick me up, especially half way through the work week! So here are 10 songs that I love to listen to to remind me of who I am and what I can do.

I hope it does the same thing for you!

Take Your Power

There was a time in MY PAST when I was very angry.

Many things were out of my CONTROL and it was a difficult time as I transitioned from adolescence to ADULTHOOD.  However, it was a time of great personal GROWTH and REFLECTION.  I spent a lot of time learning and UNDERSTANDING my own feelings and other peoples, and interpersonal interactions.  I also LEARNED a lot about how mental illness affects not only the person afflicted but it can also affect those of us who are around people with a mental illness.  It can affect your power…if you let it.

Your PowerYour PowerYour Power

What it really helped me when realized no one can take your power. But if you get into a situation where your WILLING to use your personal power as a bargaining chip then you can end up feeling like someone else took your power, but really you gave it up hoping for something in exchange. Love, ACCEPTANCE, friendship. Or to get away from something loneliness, unhappiness, stress. But FEELING powerless can start a spiral. It can really send you to a dark place because you don’t feel in control of your own life even though you still are.

Your Power Your PowerYour Power

The GREAT NEWS is you can take your power back whenever you choose and you can do it in an INSTANT.  You can leave a group of FRIENDS that is a bad influence and when you do you will have realized your self worth and a better group of friends will find you. You can leave an abusive relationship and that freedom will feel like seeing the sun for the first time once you’re free.

Your Power

Three things you can do right now to take your power back:

  1. Decide what you want. What brings you happiness? What kind of life do you want to live? You have a choice, you can choose!
  2. Align yourself with good people.  Everyone has one good person in their life – an aunt, a neighbor, a brother.  Spend time with people who build you up.
  3. Stop spending time with people you know are not good for you.  This one is hard. But it has to be done to take your power back!

Don’t let someone else turn you into something you’re not.  You can decide at any moment to take your power back and do or becoming something different.
