How It Began

After writing so many songs and releasing singles I started wondering what more was out there. I never considered writing a book, (although several people in my life encouraged it) but when I found myself with quite a bit of free time in the Spring of 2021 it happened. I had the idea for more than 10 years and after diving back into my love of reading, the book poured out of me. It was a surprise, so much so that I didn’t tell anyone until I was 1/3 of the way done.

The Golden Promise took roughly 3 months to write. I started writing it at the end of January and wrote in the evenings for hours. I was so engaged with the world and my characters I often times would forget it was winter because in the world of the book it was late spring and summer. After about 3 months I had completed the book and took another month editing. I didn’t wait long before I started writing the second book because I knew there was more to the story.

I didn’t realize how much I would love writing in a full length format. Songwriting is so condensed. There is so much you need to say in 3 minutes to create an impactful song. With a novel, you have all the time in the world to tell your story and it was so freeing.
