I read before venturing out into London Ontario that this spot was a must visit, so I found my way to the Covent Garden Market and it lived up to the description! There was fresh fruit, great little restaurants, sweet treats, and my favorite, the Tea Haus! We had an excellent salad at The Salad Bowl, and then a Green Tea Chai shake from Taylor Sue’s Cups and Cones. As someone who loves tea, the Tea Haus was the real treat because of the many varieties and flavors and the fact that it was all natural ingredients! Even just wandering through the market was a great way to spend an hour, it’s small but packed with interesting treasures. What interesting markets, indoor or outdoor, have you visited?
Arriving in London
I’ve been to London Ontario once before to visit some radio stations, so actually getting to explore the city as part of CCMA week was a great experience! We arrived Thursday afternoon just in time to attend the opening reception at London Music Hall and throughout the week I had the chance to visit and take in some great local culture, I’ll be posting more about that soon, so make sure to check back! In the mean time, here’s my outfit for the opening reception, a black lace dress with fringe detail and my favorite over the knee boots. It was the perfect mix of style and glamour for the opening reception. Black is always a go to color for me, what’s something you often reach for when putting together a great outfit?
Rapid Hangout
Got to play a show 30 minutes from my hometown and then spend some quality time with my family this month. I have four siblings and two of them had their birthdays within a week of each other and my mum’s birthday, so it’s quite the busy last couple weeks of August. On one of my mornings off, we were able to snap a couple shots by some rapids close to home. Gearing up for a big fall, full of music and awesome adventures, so I loved having a couple hours to enjoy nature!
Golden Birthday
I had my golden birthday in July, and it was such a good time. I got to spend the day in Toronto, one of my favorite cities and spend time with some of my favorite people. A few years ago my family and I started a fun tradition called“Christmas in July” dinner; on my birthday my mum makes my favorite dishes from Christmas and then my family comes over and we all have dinner together, just like Christmas! This birthday was wonderful and I’m really looking forward the all the wonderful things coming in this next year of my life.
How did/will you celebrate your golden birthday?
Traveling With Your Dog
Audrey joins me more often than not when I’m traveling. She’s often mistaken for a stuffed animal, and while I fully support stuffed animal travel, I don’t know why people think I would travel with a stuffed dog…but I digress. Traveling with a dog isn’t difficult, but it’s something you learn tricks to as you do it. So here are my tips for traveling with girl’s best friend.
1. Bathroom Break
This seems obvious, but you’d be surprised how easy it is to overlook when you’re in a hurry for a very early morning flight. Not only will you dog be fidgety, but you’ll feel super guilty, so do what you have to in order to make sure your puppy has a potty break prior to arriving at the airport.

2. Starbucks Water
Flying is dehydrating for everyone, including you dog! Starbucks provides free ice water, all you have to do is ask, and your dog will appreciate you for it!

3. Travel case
Audrey has a backpack that designed for carrying pets, and she loves it. She hops right in and she’s always right by me, which is her favorite place to be! Figure out what works best for you dog, BUT, make sure it fits under the seat! The key is finding a happy medium and making sure your pup will be comfortable during the hours of travel.

4. Paperwork
Have your paperwork in order, especially if traveling internationally. It will save time and anxiety if you know what you are allowed to have and what they need to make sure your pup is okay to enter the country.

5. Food

Flying with dog food is sometimes allowed, but sometimes not. This can create difficulties upon arrival to your destination, so do a little research prior to takeoff to find out where you can get your dogs food in the travel destination.
I hope these tips help you! Do you travel with your dog? What are your tricks and secrets? Let me know in the comments!
Summer Day Trip in Canada
A few weeks ago I had the chance to do one of my favorite pastimes; go for a drive. We ended up at a small resort a couple towns away from my hometown and found a great view of one of the lakes. Summer is one of my favorite seasons in Canada, because it’s all about being outside and enjoying the season before winter comes and makes staying inside a little more appealing. This chambray shirt is from American Threads, the dress is LF, and the shoes are from Steve Madden. What is your favorite season?
