A few weeks ago I was in Toronto for work, and completely stumbled onto the Glossier pop up!
If you’ve been on pinterest or are at all interested in makeup you’ve heard of the brand Glossier and are either part of, or have heard about, their near cult like following! It’s not surprising because Glossier puts such an emphasis on creating products thoughtfully designed with what women want in mind. Born from a blog, Glossier was creating as a conversation between brand and consumer.
I’d obviously heard of Glossier and have friends who swear by the products, but I’d never order it for myself.
Once I saw the pop up I HAD to stop because I knew there would be physical product inside that I could try before buying! That’s my one issue with ordering online, I love to feel, see, hold, try-on, pretty much everything before buying. Once through the doors, it was a pink wonderland inside. There were sheer pink panels separating spaces designated for trying the products, everything was so pretty and so clearly created with the buyer in mind. It was at this moment that I realized what is so lovable about Glossier; it focuses on a few really great products.
It’s not an overwhelming collection of items that try to capitalize on every facet of the beauty industry. Instead Glossier focuses on really well designed products that actually do what they claim to. I’m now obsessed with the Cherry Balm Dotcom because it somehow makes me teeth look SO white every time I wear it. It also has a great texture that doesn’t feel to gooey, but still moisturizes AND it’s buildable.
There’s just two things I don’t love about it. 1. I wish it had a different mouth on the bottle, it’s not convenient to get red gloss on your hands. 2. While I love that they disclose all the ingredients immediately on their website, I don’t love some of the ingredients. The first ingredient in Cherry Balm Dotcom is petrolatum. Which is petroleum jelly and unfortunately it’s considered part of “the dirty dozen”. I’m hoping Glossier is researching some alternatives, because other than that I’m loving my first experience with this cult beauty brand!
