I love pretty much every aspect of “Disney culture”.
I watched the channel growing up. I know all the movies. I love the Disney parks. I love the songs from the classic movies. But it really isn’t the movies, the channel, the music, the parks, the princesses, or the stories that made me love all things Disney. It’s the imagination. The inspiration. It’s the belief that anything can be possible with enough faith and trust (and pixie dust; or whatever form magic takes in your life).
Sometimes when when we start reaching for big goals it can feel scary. Sometimes a turn in the road seems like the end until you realize it’s just a turn. When I go to one of the Disneylands or Disneyworld I am reminded that Walt Disney had big (sometimes overwhelming) ideas too. That he was daring beyond what anyone had done before. I love to think about the fact that this was all born from the original seed idea of Walt Disney. Who was, for the most part, just an average guy with big dreams and ideas.
That message is so reassuring to me. It reminds me that my big dreams are all realities just waiting to happen as I put the work in. That I too can achieve anything I set my mind to. The best part about all things disney is that, “it all started with a mouse”. What’s more unassuming than a mouse? Nothing.
If a man with dreams that began with a cartoon mouse can grow is vision into the empire that became Disney, then the rest of us can too! This is why I love visiting the parks and watching the movies. Because if it’s possible for one person to achieve great things and fulfill their destiny, then it’s possible for every one of us too.
