Let’s go back to January 2016, I was sitting on the floor feeling feeling overwhelmed but also frustrated that people I trusted had betrayed me. I sat there and started writing Earthquake and without knowing it, that’s how the album The Phoenix Story was born.
I’ve been thinking about this concept album for more than a year, and it’s finally coming down to the finishing stages. It took me ages to settle on a name for this, but now that I have I’m so excited to share it! My new concept EP is titled “The Phoenix Story”. For the longest time we had a working title but it never really seemed to incorporate everything I felt that this album was saying.
This project tells a story, it has hills and valleys and peaks and it needed a title that expressed everything it said. I LOVE these songs and the project and even the process of creating it (which wasn’t always easy). So I’m sharing the album artwork here first because this project means so much to me and because I hope you’ll be as excited for the release of the entire project as I am.
This album won’t be available online until 2018…BUT at my show on December 8th 2017, I’ll have pre-release copies available, and it will be the first time the project is available as a whole anywhere! These songs took me a while to create, but to me, they were worth the wait because I feel like so many people can relate to these songs on multiple levels. That to me, is what music is all about; creating music that can bring people together over shared experiences.
I’m super excited to get to hear this collection of songs! I hope to get to the show but if I can’t will I be able to get it anywhere else?
