A Morning On Radio Row

During the CCMAs they have “radio row”  and it’s a conference hall with all the country radio stations set up to chat with artists and get everyone hyped up for the weekend!

It’s one of favorite parts about the CCMAs is radio row. It’s so fun to see everyone again and to do all the interviews. This year was especially fun because we had the Earthquake music video, single, and Nashville trip giveaway!

I love that so many stations go live with the broadcast right at the CCMAs; it’s exciting to know listeners are included in the experience!

Guide to 14 hours in Paris

Paris

I love Paris.  It’s such a beautiful city with so much history.  On this trip Paris was a stop over between Dublin and Monaco but we packed as much into 14 hours as we possibly could, so I’m going to share our itinerary so you can get the most out of Paris as well.

We stayed within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel tower so that we could see both fairly easily and walk around the areas that we enjoy the most, including strolling on the Champs-Elysees.

It’s not right to go to Paris and not try as many of their pastries as possible.  Everything we had was unbelievably delicious especially the Drop from a La Petite Marquis.

We also explored the area around the Louvre, which was a haven for all the french designers; well known and obscure.  We’ve visited the Louvre before which is why we didn’t go this time, and I would suggest choosing specific pieces you want to see before going because you really could spend multiple days inside the Louvre taking in all the artwork.  If you have a passion for fashion you can stroll the entirety of Rue Saint Honore and indulge in the finest haute couture houses known to man.

We went on a riverboat cruise down the Siene and while we’ve done the bus tours before this river cruise was a real treat.  Tons of information, seeing the whole city by water, and getting a new perspective on the famous and infamous locations around Paris, such as Notre Dame.

We went to one of our favorite spots for dinner the roundabout adjacent to the Eiffel tower across the river.  There are several great restaurants in this vicinity and Cafe Le Malakoff is one of the best for people watching, enjoying the view, and sampling excellent french cuisine.

The next morning we boarded the train for Monaco and waved Paris farewell for now!

Bad Habit

This song was such an easy one to write, it just poured out.  I love the concept of someone being a bad habit, because I think we’ve all felt that way about a friend, or a significant other, or some other person in our lives, at some point because sometimes personalities are just combustible, like fire and gasoline.  As soon as I played this song for the person who would become the producer he told me, “this is a hit!” and that moment will stick with me, because that’s what you want to hear about any song you write.  Overall, I’m so excited to get back on the road and be playing shows, visiting radio stations, and talking about the excitement of this new song!

Best Shopping in Asheville

During my quick trip to Asheville we spent a couple hours on Saturday morning strolling downtown and exploring the shops.  We saw a lot of really cute boutiques and some very interesting shops.  I love getting a feel for the different styles of every city I have the chance to visit and Asheville felt very bohemian.  From the coffee shops, the clothing, the unique locals, and the many trinket shops, I got the feeling that Asheville has a vibe all it’s own.

What To Do in Ottawa

What I was most excited for in Ottawa was my radio visit to New Country 94.3, the main Country music station for Ottawa!  Playing and being interviewed on air is always so exciting.  It’s a live show being broadcast to so many people but sitting in the room is actually only 2 or 3 other people!  After the interview I had a couple hours before I needed to head to Montreal so we explored the Byward Market.  Its a great area full of open air booths and shops selling everything from fresh produce to trendy clothing.  Two of my favorite shops in the market were the Cupcake Lounge and the clothing shop Milk.  Do you have any open markets in your area that you love to visit?

The Cupcake Lounge

I had the lemon cake with raspberry frosting, it was so worth it!

Milk

A great boutique with a great mix of known and undiscovered brands!

Exploring Sudbury

I’d never been to Sudbury until recently, for a radio visit to KICX 91.7 but what a great day trip! I happen to love being in the car and driving to new places, it’s great for laughing, chatting, reflecting, and audiobooks, which are all some of my favorite pastimes! I especially love early morning drives, it feels like the whole world is still asleep and everything it so still and quiet.  Especially in the forest heavy parts of Northern Ontario.  Do enjoy day trips to new places as well, or prefer longer trips?
