Wanderers and Warriors

When I’m touring and promoting my music I get to meet the coolest people and whether they are fellow artists or fans, I love the opportunity to connect with like minded people.  I recently discovered the brand Wanderers and Warriors on Instagram and as soon as I found out they had a love of traveling too, I wanted to know more. The brand, which is based out of Peterborough England, is run by two entrepreneurs who were inspired and fueled by a love of travel, something I also happen to love! So when I had the chance to partner with them to share their clothing collection it seemed like a very natural fit. This shirt has quickly become one of my favorites, and not just because it’s so comfortable, but because I love the message.  We should all consider the world our playground and explore it as much as we possibly can.  Check out all of their clothing at www.wanderersandwarriors.com

What To Do in Ottawa

What I was most excited for in Ottawa was my radio visit to New Country 94.3, the main Country music station for Ottawa!  Playing and being interviewed on air is always so exciting.  It’s a live show being broadcast to so many people but sitting in the room is actually only 2 or 3 other people!  After the interview I had a couple hours before I needed to head to Montreal so we explored the Byward Market.  Its a great area full of open air booths and shops selling everything from fresh produce to trendy clothing.  Two of my favorite shops in the market were the Cupcake Lounge and the clothing shop Milk.  Do you have any open markets in your area that you love to visit?

The Cupcake Lounge

I had the lemon cake with raspberry frosting, it was so worth it!

Milk

A great boutique with a great mix of known and undiscovered brands!

Exploring Sudbury

I’d never been to Sudbury until recently, for a radio visit to KICX 91.7 but what a great day trip! I happen to love being in the car and driving to new places, it’s great for laughing, chatting, reflecting, and audiobooks, which are all some of my favorite pastimes! I especially love early morning drives, it feels like the whole world is still asleep and everything it so still and quiet.  Especially in the forest heavy parts of Northern Ontario.  Do enjoy day trips to new places as well, or prefer longer trips?

Montreal’s Best Shops

I’m a fan of fashion, there is no denying that.  And I love pieces that are chic and versatile.  If I can wear it day-to-night, with a dress and jeans, and looks as chic in the airport as in an interview, chances are I’m going to want it.  While exploring Montreal I definitely got the vibe that the people of this city shared my love of versatility in their wardrobe choices.  My experience of Montreal indicated that it was a very pedestrian city, and that was reflected in the fashion.  I found a beautiful Rudsak, a Montreal based designer, jacket in a vintage shop and loved it so much I brought it home with me!  What cities have you been to that you really appreciate the local style and fashion of?

Unicorn

This shop was super cute and had a mix of designers, a lot of the pieces were quite expensive but they did have a fair mix of price points.  There was a great casual jewelry section as well as a couple local designer pieces I noticed.

Ruse

This was the store where I found my Rudsak jacket that I’m now obsessed with!  A great collection of carefully selected vintage pieces at great prices.

Vestibule

This store had such a great selection of homewares and gifts, it was the perfect spot to find a gift to bring back to a friend!  The design was so beautiful I found myself just wanting to hangout in here!

Boucle and Papier

I’m a sucker for paper supply stores.  I love new notebooks, pens, colored pencils, and all the trinkets of stationary stores.  This store was small and had a great collection of trendy but useful items.

Montreal Street Style

I was in Montreal for a mere 24 hours but what a city!  I was there for a radio interview with KIC Country based on of Mercier.  While there I had the chance to stroll some quiet residential streets, try some great food and indulge in a little of Montreal’s unique and historic culture.  We were there during the middle of May so we experienced the spring of Montreal, which I’m sure is very welcome after a cold winter!  I loved the architecture, the mixture of language and culture, and I even enjoyed feeling a little shocked at how different Montreal is from other Canadian cities I’ve visited.  All in all, I loved getting to know another part of Canada while sharing my music!  Have you found a city like Montreal in your travels?

Chicago Show at Uncommon Ground

When I added this stop to my promotional tour for Off The Market, which you can download here, I was so excited to play Uncommon Ground!  Although I typically play with my band, this show was an acoustic one.  I love acoustic shows because it’s an entirely different feeling from full band.  Typically it’s a more intimate setting and I can really connect with the audience.  The venue was great and the show went so well!  Here’s one of the songs I performed.
