Jet Set Candy

I found this shop while just wandering around in New York City, and absolutely love, love, love the concept!  It’s so clever, and for anyone who appreciates travel this can be the perfect gift!  They have trinkets representing wanderlust-worthy cities all over the world.  The charms are all designed to represent the city they harken to.  New York City has a tiny empire state building, a taxi, and several other charms.  They also have airport code tags! Which I am obsessed with.  The one drawback I had was the price, I felt it was a little expensive.  Especially given that it’s something you might want to get several of; for various cities you love! This is not a sponsored post, as someone who loves to travel and collect mementos from the cities I visit I had to share it with fellow travelers!

Best Restaurants – New York City

I’ve been to NYC multiple times, and I always have amazing food while I’m there.  I’ve eaten in critic favorites like Hundred Acres to little hole in wall amazing Ramen spots, but this trip was planned intentionally with specific restaurants in mind.  We tried several different places and these are my favourites from this trip!

One if by Land, Two if by Sea

This restaurant was incredible.  It has history, atmosphere, excellent service, and the food was beyond amazing.  It was so great I didn’t even bother taking my camera out for the food because I wanted to enjoy the experience!

Sugar and Plumm

The ultimate in whimsy, this spot was as sweet inside as it’s plated food!  With a glass tiled wall that created sweet treat art, and an extensive dessert menu, this became one of my favorite stops of the trip.  They had crepes, waffles, and all sorts of creative takes on traditional brunch favorites, one of them being a short rib benedict!  I had the brioche berry french toast and it was as sweet and crunchy as it looks in the picture!

B Side Pizza

Pizza was obviously on the menu and our first foray into the world of cheese covered pies was B Side!  It had great Yelp reviews and the  honeyed pizza did not disappoint!  It was an interesting flavor combination and one I welcomed, as a departure from typical pizza flavors.  The kale salad (because, healthy, right?) was also amazing with a tangy almost sweet dressing that complimented the pizza.

Red Eye Grille

I had heard, from the depths of social media, about a sushi burger breaking onto the food scene in New York days before we landed, so naturally I had to try it while I was there.  I was expecting amazing, and it was exactly that.  I didn’t know until I ordered it that you can customize it, to reflect your favourite sushi roll!  All in all, it was amazing and I completely recommend it.  The service was great and the lobster mac and cheese was the perfect side dish!

Levain Bakery

They claim to have the world’s best cookie.  We waited in line for 45 minutes.  Then got to consume the world’s best cookie!  I was skeptical, I’ve eaten a lot of cookies, I would consider myself a cookie connoisseur, and this cookie was delicious.  I tried two; the raisin, the dark chocolate and both were so damn scrumptious, that I wanted to go back the next day for more, but ran out of time!  Suffice it to say, next time I’m in New York City, this will be one of my first stops.

Ice Skating in Central Park

Every time I’ve seen a movie featuring New York City in the winter, there’s always ice skating.  It always looks so dreamy and picture perfect, and like the kind of ice skating you always wanted to partake in.  It’s either under the Rockefeller tree or in Central Park.  So when we were going to New York in December this activity was at the top of my must-do list, just so I could say I’d done it! Let me tell you, it was as much fun as I’d imagined it would be.

New Year’s Eve

It’s been a big year for me! I started my blog, I started touring a lot more, I released two songs to radio, and there were ups and downs, and bridges to cross, it was a lot packed into one year, but all in all, it’s been a great year and so much fun.  I loved playing shows in LA, Chicago, New York City, Vermont, Maine, and visiting so many new places as well!  I’ve grown as a musician, I’ve learned so much professionally, personally, and through going to school at Belmont all the while.  I love the people I get to work with, the music I get to create, the musicians I get to play with, it’s such a magical experience every time we step on stage.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year, I’ve had such a great time sharing it with you!

New York Street Style

New York City always associates itself with fashion in my mind.  Whether I’m there for work or play, I always feel like my style game has to be on point, even if I can only bring a a carry-on suitcase with me!  This trip to New York was much colder than I thought it would be, but luckily I had even with me to layer for warmth.  I took some of my favorite winter staples with me; my Zara camel coat, my favorite winter pompom hat, and Topshop black skinny jeans.  What staples do you travel with?

Trains and NYC

I love New York City, and I’ve seen the holiday movies that are set in New York City in the Christmas, but I hadn’t visited at this time of year until last weekend!  It was gloriously festive, with all the holiday markets, carols playing everywhere, light shows, ice skating, and of course the Rockefeller tree!  We took the train from Newark airport into the city it was a magical start to a Christmas experience in New York!  Even just walking around in the city was more exciting at this time of year, with all the well wishes for a good holiday coming from every person you cross paths with.  I’ll have more photos of my picks of what to do when you visit NYC at this time of year, but for now here are some photos from the train station and one of our first strolls through the snowy city!

This photo was taken on Damien’s first trip to Nashville. We went to find a waterfall that was two hours away and while there ran into a photographer. He offered to take some pictures of us, without knowing it was Damien’s birthday. He emailed them to us a day later. It’s still one of my favorite pictures. #happyvalentinesday @damien_keeter 💕
