On October 10, 2016 I got to fulfill a dream of mine that has been in my mind from the first time I visited Nashville. The Bluebird Cafe is an extremely well known venue in Nashville and to musicians all over the world, people travel from everywhere for an opportunity to play this intimate and historic venue. I was given the opportunity to play a round at the Bluebird from a great friend and that dream was realized! The whole performance was surreal, because while playing I was taking in the experience and the fact that I was living out a piece of my big goals. My friends came out to support me, my Mum was there, and the whole night was simply magical!
Behind The Bad Habit
I’ve filmed A TON of YouTube videos and most of them I’ve been the artist, the creative director, and the editor, sometimes even the cinematographer! So when it came time to shooting the official Bad Habit video I was beyond excited. I knew what I wanted it to look like, but I didn’t have a storyline yet, and that’s where Carl Diebold (videographer for Rascal Flatts, Gavin Degraw, etc.) had some great ideas about how the storyline of the song could be brought into the video in a fun light hearted way. The video is now live on YouTube and I love how it turned out! My hair and makeup was done by Julie Garcia, a great MUA based in Nashville.
Music and Friends
Today I want to introduce you to one of my best friends, Carissa Leigh! Carissa is also a musician and writer in Nashville! We and I met one night when she was playing a round in Nashville, before she even moved her, then she did move here and we’ve been friends ever since! We’re both Canadian, we both love good well written country songs, and we also both love adventures! Making music is such a great career and life, and it becomes even more fun when you find people who love to make music like you do! When you find friends who you just click with especially friends who understand your world, it can be so much fun and I think everyone finds those friends eventually. As women with big goals we both understand how important it is to have people who’s opinion you trust and who’s company you enjoy, which is why I feel it’s so important to find a girl group of friends that you can lift up and who can also lift you up!
Great Lakes Country Interview
On Saturday morning before the days events began I got to sit down with Country 103 Great Lakes Country and got to share news about the new music I’m working on, the upcoming album, and the CCMAs! It’s always great to connect with listeners and share some live music, which is exactly what we did! I played an unplugged version of Off The Market live on air. Then we got to chat about what it’s like to be on tour, making a record, and spending time between Nashville and Canada. They also broadcast the show live on Facebook which always makes for some candid moments!
Meet and Greet
It’s so fun to play a show, and then getting to meet some fans after makes it even more fun. When I played the live stage at BX93 in London Ontario, they had set up a special area just for fans to meet and hangout with their favorite artists from the day. Get to meet great people and hearing how much they enjoyed a particular song is such an exciting way to connect with people, because it means what I’m doing has resonated with them, which is why we create music! Here are some photos from the day.
Sunday Best
On my last day in London Ontario, I went for brunch with a friend and then had time to stroll around a bit before my final radio show and interview. I opted for my favorite black high waisted Topshop jeans again and paired them with a sheer sparkly top with a peter pan collar. This look really captures my day-to-day style; I love feminine yet edgy looks and outfits that can transition. I was able to go from brunch, to strolling the streets, and then to a radio station visit and show! What is a key piece from your closet that allows you to transition looks?
