It’s been a big year for me! I started my blog, I started touring a lot more, I released two songs to radio, and there were ups and downs, and bridges to cross, it was a lot packed into one year, but all in all, it’s been a great year and so much fun. I loved playing shows in LA, Chicago, New York City, Vermont, Maine, and visiting so many new places as well! I’ve grown as a musician, I’ve learned so much professionally, personally, and through going to school at Belmont all the while. I love the people I get to work with, the music I get to create, the musicians I get to play with, it’s such a magical experience every time we step on stage. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year, I’ve had such a great time sharing it with you!
Best Spots in LA
Atmosphere is so much a part of what makes a space in LA, and I have two favorite lunch spots from this trip that I have to share. One has been a long time favorite of mine, and the other is brand new to me, but has risen right to the top of my LA must do list for whenever I”m in town. Two of my favorites are:
The Alcove
As soon as we walked up, I already loved this place. It had shading provided by umbrellas, trees, and greenery. The setting was intimate but casual, and the food and drinks are delectable. I’ll definitely be making this place a staple on my visits to LA, it was a tranquil space great for chatting with friends in the California sunshine.
Portos
This is my place when I go to LA. I fell in love with it years ago, before I ever lived in Los Angeles and it’s the kind of goodness I dream about from Nashville. The cuisine is cuban inspired and the delights from the bakery are the perfect blend of airy croissant and delicious filling.
LA’s Best Bakeries
I lived in LA a few years ago and so I am familiar with LA, but there were still so many places I wanted to see while I was there! I am a huge sweets person, and while I don’t discriminate I really love bakeries! Even though I lived in LA there were some bakeries I hadn’t tried, and I was really looking forward to spending some time with my best friend and trying the best bakeries! Here are a couple bakeries I loved:
Joan’s on Third
I went here per Cupcakes and Cashmere’s cookie recommendation. While I found the cookie delicious it was really the environment of the bakery that I loved!
Bo Nuage
Stumbled upon this gem while strolling down Melrose. Most of the treats a gluten free and low in calories because it’s a combination of fruit purees and meringue!
The Hollywood Hike
My friend from New York City happened to be in LA and came to see me play The Mint! (post about the show here) After we caught up we decided to go hiking the next morning. We decided to try the Hollywood Sign hike. It ended up being a grand, off the path, adventure! We got lost, twice, ended up on top of a different mountain, but finally found our way to the sign! The view was beautiful and totally worth it!
Stevie Jewel at The Mint LA
Last week I went to Los Angeles to play a show at The Mint LA! It was so exciting and I love promoting my new single Off The Market in such cool venues and cities. The Mint is iconic and I loved the intimate size, but that is was big enough to put on a loud, vivacious show! Playing a show is a part of my career that I love. I love playing songs for an audience and I love it when I hear from someone afterwards that a particular song really spoke to them. From hanging out in the greenroom to actually playing the show I had a lot of fun! Don’t worry LA, I’ll be back to play!
Exploring Los Angeles
Just exploring Los Angeles is such a good time and it’s also one of the shopping meccas of the world. There is so much variety in this city! Some of my favorite stores in LA are the vintage ones because you never know what you’re going to find! I’ve been to the fashion district in LA and Rodeo Drive, and probably every shopping area in between. Here are some of my favorite areas and shops from my most recent trip.
