Join Me for my Morning Pages 2.11.25

Here I’ve transposed my morning pages from my notebook to my computer to share the process.

“Picture it. See your life as it is unfolding. Untangle your ego and see the world around you. You already see the wonder of life in many ways every day. You are so much more powerful than you even realize. All the power you think you have is just a drop compared to what you actually have.

Your existence is proof of this. You chose this experience to make the most out of it. Either tune out that which doesn’t serve you or grow from it by discovering how it does serve you. Everything can be in service to you if you choose to see it that way.”

What are morning pages? Read more here on my blog for my personal experience of morning pages, or here for more on the origin of morning pages.

Change Your Perspective

Yes, people say over and over that you have choices and that’s true.

You can change your CAREER, you can change where you LIVE, but what a lot of people don’t say is HOW.  Which is often the hardest part.  We can want something but if we don’t start speaking it, taking action, and intentionally moving towards it change can be slow…or non existent. You need to believe that you DESERVE it…even though you already deserve it.  You just need to BELIEVE it…but how?

perspective perspective

How to CHANGE? I’ve put some thought into this and I have two answers.

It’s your MINDSET and that leads to what I think is the real root…your PERSPECTIVE. Perspective is the personal lens through which we see the world as an individual.  It’s made of our experiences and the stories we have told ourselves about why we are the way we are.

perspective perspective

So how can you change perspective?  The good news is…in MANY WAYS!

Gratitude. We can all feel more grateful when we think about people in third world countries or when a natural disaster happens we all find the gratitude that we live in a place where that’s not happening. That’s perspective. It’s seeing beyond the trees to see the forest and that’s the same kind of thinking you can use to begin to change.

Value. You don’t need to do or be anything to have value as a person.  You’re here and that’s enough.  Just by being here you matter.   Even if the only thing you do today is breathe, that’s enough.  You don’t have to gain validation through accomplishments if it doesn’t bring you joy.

Inner Monologue.  How you talk to yourself matters.  The words you say to yourself sink in.  You can change how you feel about yourself.  See yourself differently, see yourself in a light of value. See the gifts, strengths, and natural talents that you have.  Voice out loud to yourself your good qualities even if you don’t totally believe them…yet.  Keep speaking good words over yourself.  Eventually there will be a change, maybe small and slow, but it will change your perspective.

Caught In The Act

The morning I was heading back to Nashville to finish working on my next single, I walked into the barn and caught London, my horse, having a little nap! He’s so sweet, whenever I catch him laying down he always lets me sit with him, which a lot of horse wouldn’t do.  He also doesn’t lay down all that often, so it’s a special experience when he let’s me hangout with him when he’s so relaxed. I sure miss him when I’m down in Nashville, but I think he prefers the wide open fields of a farm!

Montreal’s Best Shops

I’m a fan of fashion, there is no denying that.  And I love pieces that are chic and versatile.  If I can wear it day-to-night, with a dress and jeans, and looks as chic in the airport as in an interview, chances are I’m going to want it.  While exploring Montreal I definitely got the vibe that the people of this city shared my love of versatility in their wardrobe choices.  My experience of Montreal indicated that it was a very pedestrian city, and that was reflected in the fashion.  I found a beautiful Rudsak, a Montreal based designer, jacket in a vintage shop and loved it so much I brought it home with me!  What cities have you been to that you really appreciate the local style and fashion of?

Unicorn

This shop was super cute and had a mix of designers, a lot of the pieces were quite expensive but they did have a fair mix of price points.  There was a great casual jewelry section as well as a couple local designer pieces I noticed.

Ruse

This was the store where I found my Rudsak jacket that I’m now obsessed with!  A great collection of carefully selected vintage pieces at great prices.

Vestibule

This store had such a great selection of homewares and gifts, it was the perfect spot to find a gift to bring back to a friend!  The design was so beautiful I found myself just wanting to hangout in here!

Boucle and Papier

I’m a sucker for paper supply stores.  I love new notebooks, pens, colored pencils, and all the trinkets of stationary stores.  This store was small and had a great collection of trendy but useful items.
