Brown Thomas and Dublin Castle

After spending time in Belfast I was almost sad to leave because I found it so charming, but Dublin did not disappoint! It had a lively music scene in the pubs at night and a lot of history throughout the city, I’ll be talking about that aspect in a later post, but there were two things in Dublin that I found made for a nice contrasting afternoon.

First we explored Dublin Castle in the heart of the city. Full of so much history, from the time that Dublin was invaded by England, up to it’s present day existence.  The entire building was very imposing and the fact that it’s now sandwiched in the middle of everything else in thriving downtown Dublin makes me a perfect stop to soak in some history.

In the afternoon we found ourselves in Brown Thomas, a luxurious department store with it’s main entrance on Grafton Street, having high tea. The experience was decadent, especially when coupled with a visit to Dublin Castle.  We were surrounded by locals, which elevated the experience for me, and felt as though we’d stumbled into a locals spot.  The fare was light and refreshing with beautiful design touches throughout the experience.  Also, it was a champagne high tea…what could possibly be more fun?!

Garnier Super Fruit Super Hair

I love hair products and I love trying new things on my hair that make it softer, shinier, and most importantly, healthier.  That’s why when Garnier reached out to ask if I wanted to partner with them to try out there new Super Fruit Super Hair line of hair care products I was so excited! So far I’m loving the Amli shampoo and Amli leave-in conditioner.

It smells divine and made my hair feel SO soft but still full of body.  It was great to get home from playing a show over the weekend and indulge in this healthy hair treat that made my hair so manageable.

This whole collection focuses on products designed around the benefits of natural oils and super fruit ingredients.  I can’t wait to try the other shampoos, especially the coconut one, so stay tuned!

Markets of Monaco

We stumbled into this market just before leaving Monte Carlo, and I was so excited because I love the fruit markets of Europe, especially France, Italy, and now Monaco!

The experience of holding fresh produce typically from a local farm is such a contrast from buying fruit or vegetables in the grocery store.  It also allows you to pay for it right then and walk around the market taking in the rest of the wares while indulging in nature’s candy!

We sampled some raspberries that were packed full of flavor, minus a lot of the pesticides that are banned in Europe but permitted in North America.  Have you been to a produce market abroad or at home, and if so, what did you think?

Morning in Monaco

I adored the time I spent in Monaco.  It’s beautiful in so many ways, and I’m looking forward to visiting again. On the morning of our departure from Monaco we got up early and went to the old town of Monaco, which was established in the 1200s.

That’s where the palace is, the original small town, and the location of church were Grace Kelly was married to the Prince of Monaco.  It was early morning before any of the shops were open and it was the perfect way to cap off our first trip to Monaco.

This wasn’t something I originally put on my list to see while in Monaco but I’m so glad we found time for it, because it ended up being one of my favorite parts of our time there, and definitely something I would highly recommend.

Tea with the Queen

I’m a huge fan of tea time.  Which is why when I was in Dublin I tried to fit in as many tea experiences as I possibly could.  The first place we stopped was a little tea house called Queen of Hearts. It was so cute and tiny and right in the heart of Dublin.

While in Dublin and Belfast I rediscovered my deep love of scones, specifically fruit scones.  Which we indulged in while at Queen of Hearts.

The clotted cream in Ireland is so rich and flavorful that naturally I felt the need to use heaps of it on everything.  The tea was excellent, Earl Grey being one of my favorites, this blend was particularly full bodied and the flavor was not dampened by the cream.

I would definitely recommend popping in to the Queen of Hearts if you find yourself in Dublin, it’s worth it!

La Maree in Monaco

This spot was so wonderful that I had to dedicate a post to it.  La Maree was a phenomenal seafood restaurant overlooking the Monaco yacht harbor.  It was our last night in Monaco so it was the perfect experience to be able to take in some of the scenic beauty that this small but extraordinary country offers.  We had several small dishes and each one was delectable, but I have to say I was a major fan of the dessert.  Although it took extra time to prepare it gave us more time to take in the ambience and when it finally did arrive, it was well worth the wait.

This photo was taken on Damien’s first trip to Nashville. We went to find a waterfall that was two hours away and while there ran into a photographer. He offered to take some pictures of us, without knowing it was Damien’s birthday. He emailed them to us a day later. It’s still one of my favorite pictures. #happyvalentinesday @damien_keeter 💕
