Dessert is usually my favorite part of any meal. I love sweet treats, but I also love a good design and vibe. Which is how I ended up at Light Cafe.
Light Cafe has the perfect vibe of a coffee shop you can work with some seriously creative snacks and desserts. I’m going to be honest with you, I found this while exploring Toronto via Instagram and once I saw it I just had to visit.
The unassuming exterior would be easy to pass by, I know because I did actually walk right by. However inside is such a cool space with minimalist tables and a garden wall! Initially I thought this would be a typical restaurant where people sat down, placed an order, waited a typical 15-20 minutes and then the food arrived. After the meal the patrons would get up and exit the establishment.
This is NOT what Light Cafe actually is…it’s a coffee shop, just like the name implies! Praise. I just love coffee shops. I love the laid back atmosphere, I love the hipsters on their laptops, I love the careful attention given to the art of crafting the perfect latte. I love it. So just imagine my delight when I realized that’s what Light Cafe actually is!
So I ordered the most interesting items from the menu hoping they would be as dreamy as described. They did not disappoint. The real star of this show is the heart shaped sesame waffles and the equally decadent strawberry heart waffles.
This is definitely a treat to share, and you could easily split it between three people. What was best about Light Cafe is the “happy food”. All the food was fun and whimsical and I just loved that it made me happy just looking at it! I loved the atmosphere of this spot and I will definitely be back!
