This past weekend I had a great time celebrating my mother, I hope you did too! Then a few days ago, I went to a tree museum for the first time in my life. It sounds odd, but it was a beautiful walk through the forest with added art installations that artists, inspired by the landscape, had been commissioned to create. We had a picnic lunch and then strolled the forest for a few hours taking in the self guided tour. It was a great way to get outside on a beautiful day and get some use of of my boots!
New Year’s Eve
It’s been a big year for me! I started my blog, I started touring a lot more, I released two songs to radio, and there were ups and downs, and bridges to cross, it was a lot packed into one year, but all in all, it’s been a great year and so much fun. I loved playing shows in LA, Chicago, New York City, Vermont, Maine, and visiting so many new places as well! I’ve grown as a musician, I’ve learned so much professionally, personally, and through going to school at Belmont all the while. I love the people I get to work with, the music I get to create, the musicians I get to play with, it’s such a magical experience every time we step on stage. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year, I’ve had such a great time sharing it with you!
Snowy Radio Run
I went for a little radio run, visiting some radio stations in Canada, at the end of last week and it was definitely a temperature adjustment from Nashville! The radio visits were fun, as the always are, and then I decorated for Christmas! I’ll have a post on that later this week but for now I’m going to share these photos from the first snowfall I experienced this winter. It’s so beautiful when the snow falls, especially after a little rain because the snow sticks to everything and gives it that sugarcoated look! How do you feel about winter, excited? Over it already?
Favorite Fall Festivities
I love autumn. I love all seasons, but I really love autumn because it’s the sloping beginning into the holiday season which I’m a huge fan of! The changing leaves, and the hot drinks, and the sweet memories that always seem to be made this time of year always bring a smile to my face. I was home in Canada for a couple days between stops on my tour and on one morning we decided to go for a little stroll on the farm to take in the fall foliage and we snapped these pictures! What’s your favorite part of fall?
London by Local
I have a wonderful friend who went to school in London Ontario and she recommended to me some of the best local spots in London. Along with my own research I found my way to three places that are well kept secrets of London. Here are my top 3 spots to eat in London.
1. Thaifoon
This Thai restaurant is only open for late lunch and dinner, but it was worth the wait! With some great originals and a few fresh takes on traditional thai food, I’d definitely visit this spot again. It’s located downtown very close to Covent Garden Market, so it’s also convenient to get to!
- Early Bird
A restaurant with personality! This was featured on Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here” and once you walk in you can see why. It’s bright and colorful with band posters all over the walls, four elvis busts painted with KISS makeup, and a tiki bar in the back! I had the “Pancake Stack” and my friend had the “Toad in the Hole” and both had fun presentations and were creative interpretations of breakfast classics.
- The Salad Bowl
This spot is in Covent Garden Market, which seems to be a bit of a hub for activity in London. It has fantastic and highly customizable salads, with all sorts of variations for any diet restriction you may have. The staff was friendly and helpful and the final product was delicious and healthy; the latter of which isn’t always easy to find when traveling with a hectic schedule! Forgot to snap a picture by The Salad Bowl, but it’s not far from this Chocolate Factory stand!
Finding Kingston
I recently had the pleasure of spending time in Kingston Ontario with a good friend. Summer in Canada is so dreamy, time is spent by the lake, evening swims because it’s so humid, and exploring antique shops, ice cream stops, and taking in the experience of spending time nature. This trip was full of that! I had such a good time, and we even worked on some music while I was there. Nothing inspires good songs like good living! What are some memories you have made so far this summer?
