Tapestry Lifestyle

For the longest time I’ve been thinking how can I merge my loves of music, travel, and personal wellness and happiness into one site.  Especially when each of these topics can deviate into so many avenues, and yet I’m one person who loves each of these areas of life.  However, when I acknowledged that they all make up a large part of who I am, a new concept and direction came to me. Tapestry Living and the Tapestry Lifestyle.

Tapestry

A Tapestry Lifestyle at its fundamental core is “creating the joy in life”.

This means that ALL aspects of what you’re really passionate about should be embraced.  A tapestry is a piece of art that is woven together with thousands of little threads that all make up something magnificent.  Each of those threads are the moments of your life, the fibers of your masterpiece. Creating this idea of a Tapestry Lifestyle means to fully live in each of those moments, weaving your unique tapestry together.  It’s gratitude for the moment and the invitation to embrace the opportunity of creating your next moments, projects, and achievements.

Tapestry

To pursue that business you’ve been dreaming to start, to fully enjoying your meals whether it’s at home with your dog, or overlooking the coast of Positano. It’s fully committing to read that book you’ve had for 6 months, or taking that trip to Europe and truly living in each moment while you’re there. It’s joining that yoga retreat.  It’s showing up for yourself and the life you’re creating; a life that you TRULY love.

Tapestry

It’s acknowledging that you create your mindset and your perception.  EMBRACE IT! Tapestry Living is treating life as the stage and canvas that it is, and living with the best intentions.

It’s knowing that when you give more than you receive you will always receive more than you gave.

Special thanks to the creators of The Kind Mural in Nashville for this beautiful art.

Pick Me Up Playlist

Obviously I love music, but I’m fairly particular about what kind of words I want to hear. Which is why I sometimes want a pick me up.

I think the music we listen to really matters, and that we should only be putting good thoughts in our minds!  These are some of my favorite songs to listen to when I might need a reminder to keep a positive attitude. What better way to show you what I’m talking about than the share the songs with you!  Every one can use a pick me up, especially half way through the work week! So here are 10 songs that I love to listen to to remind me of who I am and what I can do.

Pick Me Up Pick Me Up Pick Me Up

I hope it does the same thing for you!

Burnout: 5 Strategies for Overcoming

I usually keep my blog posts to Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, but last night I had something on my mind and felt like I had to share it with you.

Burnout.  It’s the scary part of doing anything you love as a career.  It doesn’t have to happen when you’re the busiest, it can creep up on you until suddenly. Then you just can’t seem to find the motivation to do what it is you love.  It can come from too much work, not enough sleep, feeling torn about directions, really anything.  I’m sharing this not to make you fear burnout, but to help you see that it’s really just a part of the creative process that can be worked through.
Tips for overcoming the feeling of burnout:

1. Take the pressure off.

Why did you start doing this again? Because you love it!  You get joy from working at something you love.  That’s the real treasure! It takes so many people YEARS to find what they love, and you found yours! Enjoy that!

burnout

2. Remember why you started.

You started this because you felt and hopefully still feel something magical about it!  Strip away any pretenses and go back to the beginning.  Find the piece of it that makes you come alive and focus on that.

burnout

3. Set new goals.

Your goals don’t make you happy anymore? Change them! Don’t become so married to an achievement that it robs you of the joy in the act itself!

burnout

4. It’s about the creative process, focus on making it good, then great.

Don’t get caught up in the hype of gaining public (or friend or family) approval.  Focusing on what is popular or approved of can take away the unique qualities of what you do and why it’s special.

5. Take time off.

This would be the final step. If you’re not sure how you feel about it anymore step away for a little bit.  If it really is just burnout your muse will call you back, and your case of burnout will be over.

What do you do to overcome getting burnt out?

Tree Museum

This past weekend I had a great time celebrating my mother, I hope you did too!  Then a few days ago, I went to a tree museum for the first time in my life.  It sounds odd, but it was a beautiful walk through the forest with added art installations that artists, inspired by the landscape, had been commissioned to create.  We had a picnic lunch and then strolled the forest for a few hours taking in the self guided tour.  It was a great way to get outside on a beautiful day and get some use of of my boots!

Brown Thomas and Dublin Castle

After spending time in Belfast I was almost sad to leave because I found it so charming, but Dublin did not disappoint! It had a lively music scene in the pubs at night and a lot of history throughout the city, I’ll be talking about that aspect in a later post, but there were two things in Dublin that I found made for a nice contrasting afternoon.

First we explored Dublin Castle in the heart of the city. Full of so much history, from the time that Dublin was invaded by England, up to it’s present day existence.  The entire building was very imposing and the fact that it’s now sandwiched in the middle of everything else in thriving downtown Dublin makes me a perfect stop to soak in some history.

In the afternoon we found ourselves in Brown Thomas, a luxurious department store with it’s main entrance on Grafton Street, having high tea. The experience was decadent, especially when coupled with a visit to Dublin Castle.  We were surrounded by locals, which elevated the experience for me, and felt as though we’d stumbled into a locals spot.  The fare was light and refreshing with beautiful design touches throughout the experience.  Also, it was a champagne high tea…what could possibly be more fun?!

Earthquake – Live

I love, love, love performing live.  When I’m up on stage it’s the best feeling in the world.  Recently I was able to fly back to Canada for a gig over the Easter weekend and I had such a great time playing with my band.  We played my upcoming single Earthquake and it went over so well, which is such a humbling feeling; when the audience loves the music you wrote.  Here’s a video of Earthquake, let me know what you think!

This photo was taken on Damien’s first trip to Nashville. We went to find a waterfall that was two hours away and while there ran into a photographer. He offered to take some pictures of us, without knowing it was Damien’s birthday. He emailed them to us a day later. It’s still one of my favorite pictures. #happyvalentinesday @damien_keeter 💕
